Hi, I’m Nicole Carlson, PMHNP-BC

I’m a psychiatric prescriber with a background as a therapist, and I believe in providing compassionate, trauma-informed mental health care. I primarily provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management while drawing on my therapy experience to better understand the emotional, behavioral, relational, and trauma-related factors that may influence your symptoms.

I work with professionals, young adults, and individuals navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, substance use concerns, trauma, mood disorders, academic or work-related stress, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I value humor, diversity, and authentic conversation and strive to create an environment where you feel comfortable, understood, and actively involved in your care.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about what you need, we can work together to better understand your symptoms and create a treatment plan that supports meaningful, lasting change.

My Approach

My approach combines psychiatric medication management with the insight and understanding gained from my experience as a therapist. I take time to consider your symptoms within the broader context of your life, including past experiences, relationships, stressors, behavioral patterns, and personal goals. When appropriate, I incorporate strategies informed by cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), trauma-informed care, and other evidence-based approaches. My style blends warmth and compassion with honest, direct guidance. I’ll support you while also helping you recognize and address patterns that may be keeping you stuck.
